The Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council offers this Thursday, May 30, an original 'Tasting of stories with gofio flavor', which will take place from 6:00 p.m. in La Plaza de Las Palmas as part of the festivities scheduled to commemorate Canary Islands Day.

"This special event aims to rescue and value our cultural and ethnographic heritage, highlighting the rich tradition of gofio in Canarian culture," said the councilor.

The activity will be presented and led by the renowned writer Vidal Bolaños, who will guide attendees through a unique and enriching experience.

The author and oral storyteller Lorena Curbelo will be in charge of transporting those present to the ancestral Canarian world through stories and legends that highlight the importance of gofio in the history and daily life of the islands. Curbelo, known for her project "Educating for health through stories", will delight attendees with narrations such as "Mother Nature", "Samara", "The Promised Land", "Tori Jauna" and "La Campesina". These stories evoke the deep connection of the Canarians with their land and traditions.

The event will feature the musical accompaniment of the pianist Manuel Becerra, who with his music will create a magical and enveloping atmosphere that will further enrich the experience of the attendees.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to taste a variety of gofios and cereals, allowing traditional flavors to complement the narrated stories, offering a complete sensory experience that fuses literature, music and gastronomy.

"This activity is presented as an opportunity for the inhabitants of Arrecife and its visitors to celebrate Canary Islands Day in a unique way, appreciating and recognizing the richness of our cultural heritage," emphasizes the Councilor for Culture, Abigail González.
