The Prosecutor's Office asks for six years in prison for a 'mule' accused of drug trafficking in Lanzarote

The woman allegedly carried 40 capsules of cocaine in her body and a cylinder of the narcotic substance wrapped in a condom in her bag.

The Second Section of the Provincial Court will try next Monday, October 9, a woman accused of introducing cocaine at the César Manrique Airport, for whom the Prosecutor's Office is asking for six years in prison. The events took place on April 30, 2023, at around 5:15 p.m., when she landed in Lanzarote after an Air Europa flight from Madrid. 

According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, at that time, the alleged perpetrator was carrying 260 grams of cocaine in a cylinder of cocaine wrapped in a condom in her bag. In addition, inside her body she was carrying 40 capsules in the shape of an acorn with a total of 395 grams. In total, the value of the drug on the illicit market amounted to 69,792.64 euros. 

Since May 3, the accused, who would have acted as a mule, has been in provisional prison.

The Public Prosecutor's Office is asking for six years in prison and special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage for an alleged crime against public health, as well as a fine of 209,377.92 euros and payment of the costs of the trial. In addition, she had a canceled criminal record.
