The man who was arrested after crashing his car into the National Police Station of Arrecife has been released provisionally with charges after testifying before the judge. According to what has been confirmed from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, he is charged with crimes of assault on an agent of authority, damages and drunk driving. Likewise, the Court has made an offer of actions to the Police in case they want to raise any further requests.
According to what has been indicated by the TSJC, the case has moved to preliminary proceedings, so there will be no fast trial, but a normal investigation will be carried out. In this way, if there is no dismissal order, it will be sent to the Criminal Court for trial if the penalty request is equal to or less than five years and to the Provincial Court if it is higher.
The events took place in the early hours of Saturday, when the arrested man rammed and broke the iron door of access to the premises and continued up the stairs to the interior door of the building. Due to the speed, the vehicle tore off the iron door that accesses the parking lot and continued up the stairs, without touching the sentry box that is located at the entrance of the building.
