The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas has received the case investigating two people for the death of a 19-year-old girl, who died from an overdose in an abandoned building in Arrecife in February 2025. The hypothesis being considered by the investigation is that the two accused allegedly supplied the drugs from which the young woman ended up dying. This has been reported by the newspaper La Provincia.
The family is awaiting the complete autopsy results to determine if a charge for sexual assault could be added to the crime of homicide. For the moment, they suspect that the young woman might have been assaulted by the alleged drug dealers.
The events took place on February 8, 2025, when the Policía Nacional de Arrecife found the young woman dead in an abandoned construction site on calle Tenderete. The space was a drug consumption point.
After being alerted by two people who found the young woman's inert body, medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service and agents of the National Police arrived in the Argana Alta neighborhood. The medical personnel could only confirm her death, while the agents took over the police investigation.
The young woman resided in the town of Puerto del Carmen and her mother had reported her disappearance a day earlier. Apparently, she was admitted to Psychiatry at Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital and escaped from the center.
According to what this newspaper has reported, the family has also filed a complaint against the hospital for negligence by not notifying the National Police or her mother of her escape from the place.
