A family from Lanzarote manages to get rid of a debt of 141,200 euros and overcomes an economic situation. Originally, the couple, residing in the municipality of San Bartolomé, enjoyed a comfortable economic situation, supported by the stable income of the father, who works as a doctor. However, a series of unforeseen expenses plunged the family into financial difficulties, compromising their economic stability and leading them into debt.

Faced with this situation, they turned to the Second Chance Law, advised by the specialized team of Canarias Sin Deuda, to recover their economic solvency.

The situation dates back to 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, when this family suffered a withholding on their payroll by the State Tax Agency. In that same period, they had to face a series of extraordinary expenses such as the repair of their home. Given these circumstances, encouraged by banking entities, they chose to contract different financial products in order not to incur defaults.

The father explains how what he calls "a house of cards" began. "We had a critical situation, for five years, caused by several adverse economic situations. We had to pay more money than we received. To the point that we had to withdraw money with several credit cards to be able to satisfy the same loans. I had three jobs to make ends meet, but the situation became complicated until we reached a critical economic situation. That's when we turned to the Second Chance Law."

This family not only managed to cancel the debt they had, but also saved the mortgaged house, their properties and managed to keep their vehicles.

According to the legal advisor of Canarias Sin Deuda, Lidia Rodríguez, it has been a "complex case but with an extraordinary result that highlights that the fact of receiving a good salary does not necessarily determine someone's financial situation, since a high level of expenses, above income, is the cause of high indebtedness. Our clients, thanks to the Second Chance Law, in addition to getting rid of the accumulated debt, have managed to save the mortgaged house and other properties, as well as their vehicles and the pension plan."
