The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote (EUTL), has signed a framework collaboration agreement with the Official College of Tourism Professionals of the Canary Islands (COPTURISMO), with the aim of reinforcing the professionalization, sustainability and digitalization of the island's tourism sector.

The agreement, approved in the last Governing Council of the Cabildo, also seeks to promote the employability and professional development of the students and graduates of the EUTL.

Thanks to this agreement, both entities commit to collaborate in the organization of training days, research projects, dissemination activities and internship and mentoring programs. Likewise, the headquarters of COPTURISMO in Lanzarote will be located in the facilities of the EUTL, which will become a strategic meeting point between professionals, students and agents of the island's tourism sector.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of the agreement, emphasizing that "this alliance is a firm step towards strengthening the island's tourism ecosystem. We are committed to knowledge, local talent and real collaboration between institutions to build a more sustainable, innovative and professionalized tourism".

For her part, the Minister of Education, Ascensión Toledo, valued the agreement as a "concrete opportunity for the students of the EUTL to integrate into the professional fabric from an early stage, receiving specialized training and accessing a network of key contacts for their future employment".

In addition, she pointed out that "the cooperation with COPTURISMO opens a new stage in which Lanzarote is at the forefront of tourism training in the Canary Islands".

Among the established commitments, it is worth noting that the EUTL will make its spaces for meetings and presentations available to COPTURISMO, promote its activities through institutional channels, and promote membership among students. It will also promote the development of research and practices focused on sustainable tourism and digitalization.

In turn, COPTURISMO will offer specialized training, facilitate access to its professional network and actively participate in events organized by the EUTL, such as the University Internship and Employment Forum, the Alumni Meeting and the annual EUTL-COPTURISMO Professional Conference.

With this initiative, the Cabildo of Lanzarote continues to bet on an educational model that strengthens the connection between the academic and professional fields.
