The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa encourages young people to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new Dual Vocational Training. This training modality, which will become the single standard in Spain from next year, combines learning at the educational center with periods of training in companies, allowing students to acquire better quality knowledge in a real business environment.
Two Dual Vocational Training modalities
The new Dual Vocational Training is divided into two modalities: General FP and Intensive FP. General FP allows students to spend between 25% and 35% of their learning time in a company, without the need for a training contract. In contrast, Intensive FP offers students the opportunity to spend between 35% and 50% of their time in a company, with a paid training contract. During the first year of that contract, students receive 65% of the salary corresponding to their job, and 75% during the second year.
A prominent feature of the new FP model is the possibility of combining both modalities in the same group of students. Intensive FP is voluntary for students and depends on the availability of companies willing to offer training contracts. In all cases, the priority is that students receive adequate training, always under the tutelage and supervision of the educational center, which is also responsible for evaluating their performance with information provided by the companies.
Benefits for students and companies
This approach not only benefits students, who receive remuneration while learning, but also implies a greater commitment from companies. There have already been signs of interest from some companies, especially in the tourism and hotel sector, in hiring these apprentices. These companies see this system as a way to strengthen their relationships with apprentices and increase the chances of them becoming qualified workers in the future.
The tourism and hospitality sphere in Lanzarote is undergoing a transformation in human resources management, with many companies investing more in training and improving working conditions for their most qualified employees. This educational proposal can be a great opportunity for those who wish to improve their job and professional prospects.
Registration periods and commitment to the labor market
Those interested in studying FP in Lanzarote can apply for a place in the training cycles still with vacancies during the registration periods that will open in summer: from July 15 to 24 and from September 2 to 5. In addition, companies that wish to be part of this initiative and host Intensive Dual FP apprentices can contact the Chamber of Commerce for more information.
The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa is committed to supporting this transition towards a more practical and beneficial educational model for both students and companies, thus contributing to the improvement of the labor market on the island.
