The Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE) has approved subsidies to various entities for the training of 289 unemployed women from Lanzarote in digital skills until the end of the year, for an amount of between 150,280 to 312,000 euros.
It should be noted that the women will have to be residents of Canary Island municipalities with less than 30,000 inhabitants to receive this aid, aid granted under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and rural development as well as reducing the gender gap.
In addition, it should be noted that Lanzarote will not be the only island that will receive this subsidy, since the SCE will allocate a total of 5,423,080 euros to 20 entities in the archipelago, with 10,429 women benefiting. Specifically, two entities will receive subsidies with an amount of 520,000 euros for training actions at the provincial level, with a thousand participants in each demarcation; and the remaining 18 will obtain aid of 150,280 to 312,000 euros for digital training in an island environment, with 3,660 women in Gran Canaria, 3,590 students in Tenerife, 600 in Fuerteventura and 290 in La Palma.
Specifically, the current resolution of the autonomous body allows the upcoming development of various non-formal training actions for the acquisition of basic or intermediate-level technological and digital skills with a cross-cutting nature to the various productive sectors and a duration of 40 hours, with at least 15% in person, among groups of 20 women.
Signed at the end of 2021 by Councilor Elena Máñez as president of the SCE, the call resolved this week is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the main strategy of the Government of Spain to channel the funds allocated by the European Union (EU) to repair the damage caused by the Covid crisis through the Next Generation EU instrument.
