The Canary Islands attract half of all Britons visiting Spain in winter, and it is in the archipelago where they make 60% of the total expenditure in the country.

This was explained by the President of the Canary Islands, Fernado Clavijo, during the inauguration of the archipelago's stand at the World Travel Market fair, which is being held these days in London.

Clavijo also highlighted that the Canary Islands "is not only the most demanded destination by the British, but it is the one that has recovered the fastest, already exceeding the pre-covid figures."

"Neither Brexit nor the macroeconomic situation have stopped the arrival of British people to the Canary Islands. In tourist invoicing, it also recovers well above the average (121% vs. 108%)," he said.

In fact, he added, "compared to the pre-pandemic winter, the rise in British tourism is 37%, while in the rest of the autonomous communities it only increases by 3%."
