The USO union has called ten days of strike by Iberia Express cabin crew from the Madrid base, which currently has up to six daily connections with Lanzarote, three outbound and three return. The stoppages will begin on August 28 and will extend until September 6.
In addition, this strike coincides with the one that currently exists in the cabin crew of Ryanair, which began on August 8 and is scheduled until January 7.
According to the union, the reason for this new strike in Iberia Express, to which 517 workers are called, is "to unblock the negotiation of the II Collective Agreement of TCP of the airline". "The company has maintained since December 2021, when negotiations began, a null interest in improving the working conditions of the group, opposing any union proposal and offering alternatives far from reality," they say from USO.
The union, which is the majority in the works council in Madrid, demands "an annual salary review according to the CPI during the term of the agreement to adjust salaries to the increase in prices", since it ensures that the crew members have had their salaries frozen "for 7 years".
In addition, it demands "the consolidation of the 6.5% salary increase corresponding to 2021 for all levels, the creation of two salary levels with an 11% and 4% increase, as well as a bonus of 24 months of seniority to all workers in the group and the homogenization of the transport bonus and the on-board sales commission in all TCP categories."
USO shows its "total willingness to negotiate with the company's management", but insists that "it is time to compensate the effort made by all Iberia Express crew members to sustain the company during the pandemic."
"We are very disappointed with the management of Iberia Express, who have shown that they have no word or respect for the workers who have fought to keep the company afloat while they will receive millionaire benefits this summer. We trust that they will reconsider their proposals and land in the reality that surrounds their workers", explains the USO delegate in Iberia Express, Adriana Escauriaza.
