The César Manrique airport received a total of 627,992 travelers in January, which represents a growth of 10.3% compared to January 2019. The increase in relation to the figures from 12 months ago is 54.6%. In both cases, the airport of Lanzarote registers the largest increase among the large airports of the Canary archipelago.
The group of airports in the Canary Islands closed the month of January 2023 with 3,964,990 passengers, which is 5.7% more than those who arrived in the same month of 2019 and 47.2% more compared to the figures for January 2022.
By islands, the airport of Gran Canaria registered the highest number of passengers in the first month of the year with 1,204,146, which represents an increase of 2% over January 2019, in addition to an increase of 42.4% compared to January of last year. It is followed by the airport of Tenerife South, which with 1,093,561 passengers, accounts for an increase of 7.3% compared to 2019 and 52.6% compared to 2022;
To the airport of Fuerteventura arrived 475,048 travelers (+7.3% and +44.5%); To Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, 436,543 (+9.1% and +37.9%); At the airport of La Palma, 101,128 arrivals were registered (-14% and +72.8%), In El Hierro, there were 19,843 (+8% and +23.7%) and in La Gomera, 6,729, which represents an increase of 41.5% compared to the same month of 2019 and 30.4% more than the passengers reached in January 2022.
In January 2023, in the Canary Islands, 35,587 aircraft movements were managed, which means a recovery of 98.8% compared to 2019 and an increase of 17.8% compared to 2022; and 2,456 tons of merchandise were managed, which represents a recovery of 77.7% compared to the same month of 2019 and 97.1% compared to January 2022.
Of the total number of travelers registered in January, 3,917,516 corresponded to passengers on commercial flights, of which 2,509,651 traveled on international flights, increasing by 2.1% compared to January 2019 and 52.6% of 2022, and 1,407,865 did so on national flights, 11% more than before the pandemic and 40.1% more than last year.
