Fuerteventura once again surpasses Lanzarote in tourist spending

Tenerife also had higher tourist spending than Lanzarote between July and September, while Gran Canaria was close to reaching Lanzarote's records

Since the end of the Covid 19 pandemic, Lanzarote had surpassed Fuerteventura in tourist spending throughout 2022 and the first half of 2023. 

However, Fuerteventura has once again surpassed Lanzarote during the third quarter of this year with a tourist spending of 184.3 euros, almost ten euros more than in Lanzarote, where it was 174.4 euros

Spending in Fuerteventura has grown so much in the last quarter that it places it as the Canary Island with the best records. The average for the archipelago stood at 177.6 euros

According to data provided by the Lanzarote Data Center based on figures from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), Tenerife also surpassed Lanzarote in tourist spending during the third quarter of this year, reaching 180.1 euros per person. 

Gran Canaria, on the other hand, was very close to matching Lanzarote's record, reaching 174 euros per tourist between July and September. 

Far from the four most touristy islands of the Canary Islands was La Palma, where the average spending per tourist was 145.3 euros. 

 

What did tourists who visited Lanzarote this summer spend their money on?

Tourists who visited Lanzarote between July and September spent most of their budget on accommodation, in which they invested an average of 74.9 euros per night. 

Next, they spent an average of 62.8 euros per day on transportation, while on food it was 23.8 euros.

They dedicated 8.1 euros a day to recreation, culture and sports activities and 4.9 euros to shopping and other matters
