The price of rental housing rose in August in the province of Las Palmas by 13.4% so that rent costs 11.16 euros per square meter per month, according to data from the Fotocasa Real Estate Index Fotocasa.
The average for the Canary Islands has stood at a 12.6% increase, since in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife the increase has been lower, with a 10.4% growth, although the square meter is still higher in the neighboring province, where it stood at 13.33 euros per square meter.
In the Canary Islands, the price of rental housing rose by an average of 0.4% compared to the previous month and its price is 10.87 euros per square meter.
With this increase, rent in the Canary Islands reaches the maximum price since 2005
With this increase, the Canary Islands has reached the maximum price in the entire historical series of this real estate portal, which opened in 2005. The Balearic Islands, Galicia, Navarra, Asturias and the Basque Country also reached their maximum.
If we analyze rental prices compared to those of a year ago, we see that all the communities increase the year-on-year price in August.
The order of the areas of Spain with year-on-year increases is: Balearic Islands (17.8%), Valencian Community (16.0%), Cantabria (15.4%), Canary Islands (12.6%), Madrid (11.6%), Castilla y León (9.2%), Galicia (8.3%), Region of Murcia (8.3%), La Rioja (6.5%), Catalonia (5.5%), Navarra (5.3%), Asturias (5.2%), Castilla-La Mancha (4.0%), Extremadura (3.8%), Andalusia (3.4%), Aragon (3.4%) and Basque Country (1.7%).
Regarding the ranking of Autonomous Communities with the most expensive housing prices to rent a home in Spain, in the first places are Madrid and Catalonia, with prices of 15.44 euros per square meter per month and 14.91 euros per month, respectively. They are followed by five more communities with prices above €10.00/m2 per month and are: Balearic Islands with €13.93/m2 per month, Basque Country with €13.64/m2 per month, Cantabria with €10.97/m2 per month, Canary Islands with €10.87/m2 per month and Navarra with €10.40/m2 per month.
