The price of housing skyrockets in Lanzarote in May, with increases of up to 10% in Arrecife

The municipalities of Teguise and Yaiza once again mark their historical maximum, with the square meter at 2,135 euros and 2,565 euros, respectively

The price of housing continues to rise in most municipalities of Lanzarote, such as Teguise and Yaiza, which have once again marked their historical highs in the month of May, according to data from the Idealista portal.

Specifically, in Teguise the price is 2,135 euros per square meter, 1.7% more than in April, while in Yaiza it exceeds its previous figure by 2.4%, up to 2,565 euros. In addition, these increases are greater if compared to the same period of 2021, since Teguise rises 8% year-on-year and Yaiza 13.7%.

For its part, Arrecife registers the most striking increase in May with the square meter at 1,353 euros, 9.9% more than in April and 1.1% more than last year. Meanwhile, in San Bartolomé the price of housing rises 2.5% this month, standing at 2,090 per square meter and, in year-on-year terms, rises 13.8%.

However, it is important to mention that the figures do not rise in all areas of the island. Specifically, Tinajo experiences the most pronounced drop with a monthly decrease of 11.8%, leaving the square meter at just 1,400 euros. In addition, it also falls by -14.3% year-on-year.

In Haría it falls by 0.9% compared to the previous month, marking a total change in trend, with the square meter at 1,730 euros. And, if the data from 2021 are taken into account, the cost increases by 11.2%.

Finally, the municipality of Tías registers no change with respect to April, with the price at 2,579 per square meter, although it rises 9.3% year-on-year.

 

Canary Islands also registers its historical maximum

The Canary archipelago continues with skyrocketing prices, reaching its historical maximum in the month of May with the square meter at 1,996 euros, rising 0.8% monthly and 6.2% compared to 2021.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is in that line, where prices rise 1% in May and 10% compared to 2021, marking a cost of 2,019 euros per square meter.

For its part, in the province of Las Palmas the cost also rises to 1,964 euros on average, 0.6% more compared to April and 1.7% year-on-year.
