The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Canary Islands Government has published this Friday the second call for access to ownership of social housing under a rental regime in the islands for more than 25 years.
The Canary Islands Government expects to reach a total of 10,500 families with this measure who have been living as tenants in public housing before 1996, as detailed by the Autonomous Department in a statement.
The resolution has a submission period of 12 months, starting from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, and the procedure can be carried out both electronically and in person, according to the official text.
Specifically, this public promotion offer favors 904 Canarian families (properties), 127 from the province of Las Palmas and 777 from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In total, with this second resolution, there are already 2390 families that can start the process to access their property, also opting to benefit from a bonus from the Government of the Canary Islands of 50% on the reference price of the property, while the remaining 50% will be deducted from the monthly payments already made.
In order to benefit from this official sale, the managing entity, the Canary Islands Housing Institute in the islands, has reminded that the payment of community fees must be up to date, have contracted insurance against fire and catastrophic risks or not have owned homes, among some requirements included in Decree 1/2023, of January 19.
