The State Housing Plan 2022-2026 has allocated 260,000 additional euros to reinforce the Canarias Pro Hogar program of the Canary Islands Government, which already had a regional item of 60,000 euros. Therefore, a total of 320,000 will be allocated to assist families at risk of eviction in the Canary archipelago.

The Canarias Pro Hogar program, one of the main instruments of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, will allocate this item to pay rents of up to 900 euros to vulnerable families and up to 200 euros for basic supplies, insurance, maintenance and Internet connection.

From next year, the item contributed by the State to the program will be 585,000 euros per year until 2026, an amount that will be added to the Community's own contributions. This program of the State Plan is designed to meet the needs of families at risk of eviction, but, in addition, it will also meet the needs of people who are victims of gender violence and homeless people who are registered in the program.

Canarias Pro Hogar is managed by the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), which provides an immediate housing solution, through a direct subsidy to the most vulnerable people. The aid will be paid by the administration directly to the owners of the leased homes.

To grant this aid, the ICAVI will previously request from the social services of each town hall a mandatory and binding social vulnerability report for each of the families that request to join this line of subsidies. The aid is granted for one year, at the end of which the situation of the beneficiary families is evaluated to extend or not the aid for a maximum of five years.
