A total of seven wineries from Lanzarote are participating until February 5th in the fifth edition of Barcelona Wine Week (BWW), the professional event that annually gathers the best Spanish elaborations at the Montjuic Fairgrounds.

Bodegas Los Bermejos, La Geria, Vulcano, El Grifo, Erupción, Titerok-Akaet, and Althay will be present at this important event for the wine sector, which covers an area of 9,500 square meters.

The fair is distributed among 1,100 exhibitors under the distinction of more than 75 quality seals and, over three days, expects to gather around 24,000 visitors, including more than 700 international buyers.

Among the activities proposed by the fair, El Grifo winery participated in the action "Pre-phylloxera Vines, the Unforgettable Heritage," led by its winemaker and technical director, Elisa Ludeña, along with winemakers Javier Sanz and Manuel Méndez (Bodegas Gerardo Méndez) and specialized journalist and sommelier Ruth Troyano.

Additionally, Amor López, founder of Erupción Winery, offered a tasting of wines by female authors together with other Spanish winemakers. A sensory experience that linked history, terroir, and authenticity of the main national PDOs with elaborations signed by professionals and explained by themselves.

In addition to the Lanzarote wineries, another 21 wineries from the rest of the archipelago are participating: Bodegas El Lomo, Piedra Fluida, Linaje del Pago, and Atrevino (PDO Canary Islands); Bodegas Arautava, Tafuriaste, Vinos Atlante, 300 Líos Volcanic Grapes, and Chivita (PDO Valle de La Orotava); Bodega Montoro and Vino Niray (PDO La Gomera), Vinos Vega Norte, Tendal, and Mil7ochentaynueve (PDO La Palma); Ocampo, Winery Burgman Tenerife, Loher (PDO Tacoronte-Acentejo); Viña Gómez, Los Loros, Bodega Hermanos Mesa (PDO Valle de Güímar); and Vento (PDO Abona).

On the opening day, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, Luis Planas, visited the main exhibition module of the wines representing the Canary Islands in this 2025 edition, accompanied by the director of the ICCA, Luis Arráez Guadalupe.

With the aim of showcasing Canarian elaborations in this global showcase, the Canarian Institute of Agri-food Quality (ICCA), an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, has managed both the transport and registration of these productions, as well as the design and creation of two spaces with a total area of 116 square meters, in collaboration with the public company Proexca.

For Proexca, external promotion in the international market, including the peninsula, of Canarian companies is essential for their growth. The potential of the Canarian wine sector is a fact, and the Foreign Promotion area is working to make it known and increase marketing channels.

In this way, the Canarian wineries have a main area of 112 square meters of exhibition space in Pavilion 8, where most of the wines from the islands will be located under the umbrella of the corresponding PDO, as well as a small additional module, as a novelty this edition, of 4 square meters in the Collective Zone.
