La Graciosa will be the guest island at the Gastrocanarias gastronomic event, which is held in Tenerife from May 21 to 23, and which seeks to publicize the little-known gastronomy of La Graciosa, with recipes that, in many cases, have not left the family environment.

The event seeks to show all the professionals participating in the congress the traditional gastronomy of La Graciosa, which will be revealed with the interpretations of the best chefs from La Graciosa and Lanzarote.

As Saborea Lanzarote explained in a statement, La Graciosa will be the protagonist at the inauguration, officiated by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, in various presentations on the Heineken Stage, and will have its large promotional space with the presence of the invited chefs, tastings (gofio, cheeses), or wine tastings.

These recipes from La Graciosa are leaving the island for the first time in a "congress that is very important" for it and "for the global Canarian gastronomic culture", said the island's president, Oswaldo Betancort.

This event aims to "delve into the origins of subsistence, where the sea, fundamentally, and the conservation systems allowed such a small and remote island to develop as it has", and, in this way, "recover and launch the culture of La Graciosa to improve it, value it and preserve it for the future".

After the official inauguration of the 9th Canary Islands Gastronomic Salon, the program will pick up pace with the inaugural presentation: "The cuisine of La Graciosa", a journey through the gastronomic history of La Graciosa "Dried jareas, salting, mojos and the conservation and fish of the coast of La Graciosa", the organization pointed out.
