The restaurant of the gastronomic hotel Palacio Ico in the Villa de Teguise received this Monday its first Repsol Sun, which its chef Víctor Valverde collected during the gala held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Valverde studied at the Higher School of Hospitality in Alcalá de Henares and has trained with great chefs such as Martin Berasategui.
Thus, there are five restaurants in Lanzarote with this distinction. It was also previously received by: El Risco (Caleta de Famara-Teguise), Isla de Lobos (Playa Blanca-Yaiza) and Kamezi (Playa Blanca-Yaiza). SeBe in Costa Teguise.
In addition to the five suns of high gastronomy, Lanzarote treasures 27 soletes, in establishments on the island that have surprised the Repsol Guide for their product, service or personality.
The Palacio Ico tasting menu contains purely Lanzarote ingredients, from prawns and scarlet shrimp to vegetables.
The hotel, built around 1690, and included by César Manrique in his book "Lanzarote, unpublished architecture", is a bright example of Canarian stately architecture. Its restaurant is located at the entrance and welcomes diners with a large wine cellar that leads to the interior dining room or the central patio terrace. It also has a small urban terrace.
The lounge-dining room has lamps inspired by the work of Heidi Bucher, the tableware and all the ceramics are handcrafted and unique pieces designed by the artist Eguzkine, an entire aesthetic universe that immerses the diner in the spirit of art, history and nature.
For the wine cellar, the Palacio Ico restaurant has the advice of Iván Monreal, from Gran Canaria, Second Best Sommelier of the Spanish National Sommelier Championship 2021.
