The restaurant Al Kamezi Deli & Bistro in Playa Blanca and the fishing company Inverpescatron Lanzarote have been the winners respectively in the categories of Canary Islands Restaurant Establishment and Seafood Distribution Company, in the latest edition of the Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Awards of the Canary Islands organized by the regional executive.
Al Kamezi Deli & Bistro is a gastronomic creation project committed to connecting innovation, tradition and the essence of Lanzarote's product. Fresh and seasonal products, the result of the work of local farmers, ranchers and fishermen, are the protagonists of the dishes proposed in their tasting menus.
Inverpescatron Lanzarote S.L is a company founded by Carmen Noelia Betancor Viera and Juan Francisco Martín Cabrera that, since its opening in 2012, has been dedicated to the purchase and sale of fresh fish, mainly caught in Canarian waters.
The objective of these awards is to reward entities and people who contribute to promoting local Canarian products, while promoting the primary sector so that it remains one of the economic engines of the Archipelago.
The other three categories have been distributed between La Palma, Tenerife and Gran Canaria
Brenda Rodríguez from La Palma has won the Canary Islands Rural Woman Award. Livestock breeder and cheese producer, she combines tradition and innovation in an activity in which her dedication to the care of the native breed, currently in danger of extinction, such as the La Palma goat, stands out.
The Hotel Tigaiga-Puerto de la Cruz has obtained the Award for Tourist Accommodation Establishment in the Hotel modality. Located in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, the hotel dates back to the 1950s. The promotion and value of the local product by the team of chefs stands out, bringing their knowledge of Canarian gastronomy to the customers. It takes advantage of the establishment's facilities to highlight some local products, contributing to their dissemination and purchase among its customers.
Spar Gran Canaria has won the Award for the Distribution Company of Agri-food Products. This independent chain that has the license of Spar International to operate on the island of Gran Canaria stands out for its commitment to the island's economy and for its support to numerous social and sports programs to give back to the Canarian society part of what it receives.
From its beginnings it is intimately linked to the primary sector, supporting farmers and ranchers and closing agreements to guarantee their productions at fair prices.
