In January 2023, a total of 4,341 labor contracts have been signed on the island of Lanzarote, which represents a growth of 16.5% compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Canary Islands Employment Observatory (OBECAN) published by the Lanzarote Data Center.
However, the figure is much lower than that achieved in January 2019, the pre-pandemic reference year for comparing the performance of the economy today. In January of that year, 5,643 labor contracts were signed on the island, 30% more than have been registered in January 2023.
Most of the new labor contracts were signed in Arrecife, 1,711. Next, the second municipality where the most labor contracts were signed was Yaiza with a total of 828.
In Tías and Teguise, 787 and 493 people respectively found employment in January. San Bartolomé accounted for 308 labor contracts, while 154 were signed in Haría and 60 in Tinajo.
