The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), has published the advance approval of the call for subsidies for the First Professional Experience program in Public Administrations, corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year.

The call has a budget of 2.5 million euros and the objective is for municipal local corporations or their dependent or linked entities of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands to present projects to promote the hiring of young people under 30 years of age.

Projects must have a **minimum duration of ten months and a maximum of twelve**, in order to guarantee the sufficient work experience that is usually required.

As explained by the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands Government, Jéssica de León, "this initiative has the firm purpose of generating that crucial first experience needed to access the labor market and break down the barrier that affects thousands of young people in the archipelago upon completing their studies".

The call is designed for interested administrations to submit their proposals through competitive bidding. Each entity may submit a single contracting project during the month of February in order to guarantee an equitable distribution of funds allocated to youth employment.

"Through this action, we achieve that city councils and their affiliated entities act as practical and specialized learning platforms for young people seeking their first work experience," said the director of the Canarian Employment Service, María Teresa Ortega.

The projects presented by local administrations must meet minimum requirements: that they be planned for young people under thirty years of age who are unemployed and that the candidates possess a university, vocational training, or professional certification.

Unemployed young people will have a training contract for obtaining professional internships, performing an occupation that will be directly related to their studies. This will ensure that beneficiaries acquire real skills in their areas of specialization.
