Asamblea7islas, which represents Groups C, D and E of the Canarian Health Service, has sent a letter to the Minister of Health, Esther Monzón, in which it asks that the public employment offer that is being developed in the Canarian public health system be expanded to 20,000 places.

Asamblea7islas, which brings together more than 14,000 workers belonging to more than 30 categories of health and non-health personnel, indicated this Wednesday in a statement that in this way the jobs of the more than 7,000 professionals hired during the coronavirus pandemic would be consolidated.

In this way, the professionals who were hired during the pandemic and who will continue working in the health system would be consolidated as temporary staff to attend to covid pathology, reduce waiting lists, and implement new strategies such as Primary Care, Early Care, rare diseases and mental health.

This expansion of the organic staff is possible thanks to the fact that the outgoing Government contemplated in the budget of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2023 an additional provision that will allow the expansion of the organic staff to adapt it to the real needs of the services, it adds.

The 7,000 additional places by categories

Asamblea 7 islas has requested that the 7,000 new places be incorporated, divided into 658 for specialist area doctors, 365 family doctors, 87 hospital emergency doctors, 2,104 nurses, 76 midwives, 90 physiotherapists, 64 social workers, 122 laboratory technicians, 1,319 nursing assistants, 741 administrative assistants and 521 orderlies, among others, to the more than 12,000 places that are being called in the current selection processes.

"We hope that the top and new officials of the Canarian public health system will not miss this unique opportunity to consolidate these more than 7,000 workers for various reasons, the main one being that all the autonomous communities are immersed in their own calls and in this way we avoid the call effect," he specifies.

Another of the objectives that Asamblea 7 islas wields is to reduce the temporality in the Canarian Health Service to historical levels.
