The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote have launched a campaign to ask the people of Lanzarote to act as prescribers of its main tourist attractions, recommending a visit to Jameos del Agua. Jameos del Agua is the second most visited tourist center in Lanzarote, only behind Timanfaya.

When we recommend Jameos del Agua, we are showing tourists the true meaning of our island. The last few years have been dedicated to reconnecting the people of Lanzarote with the gastronomy and culture that emanates from the CACT of Lanzarote. The management of the centers is delighted with the reunion of Lanzarote society with its emblematic places.

The next objective is to ensure that our own citizens recommend the visit of all visitors to these places.

Transmitting pride in the Centers is essential to make the experience of visiting Lanzarote much more than just a hotel and beach

That special idiosyncrasy of Lanzarote is shaped thanks to places like Jameos del Agua, the first Art, Culture and Tourism Center created by César Manrique, this unique space was inaugurated in 1968, in which nature is conceived as art.

The word “jameo” is of Guanche origin, and refers to the hole that occurs as a result of the collapse of the roof of a volcanic tube, in this case, the volcanic tube of the Corona volcano. Blind crabs live there, protagonists and symbols of the center
