The expansion works of the port of Playa Blanca will allow to have two parking lots with a capacity of more than 270 parking spaces, which will be a very important improvement compared to the current situation.
In addition, the design of this space has taken into account providing the parking lot with electric car recharging systems, thus promoting the use of these less polluting vehicles with the environment and helping to eliminate the carbon footprint.
The parking lots will be divided into two zones that, together with the boarding esplanades, which total 10,000 square meters, provide the infrastructure with sufficient space to manage the transit of passengers and vehicles.
The expansion of the port of Playa Blanca is a project co-financed at 85% within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program of the Canary Islands (2014-2020) and executed by the public entity Puertos Canarios, dependent on the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The managing director of Puertos Canarios, Manuel Ortega, explains that a first parking lot will be established in the northern area, next to the Marina, which will have a capacity for 85 cars, and another of a general nature, attached to the Passenger Terminal, in which another 190 vehicles can be accommodated.
In the second space, next to the new maritime station, there will be an electric car recharging area, which can be used by four vehicles at the same time.
On the other hand, the parking for rental cars will have 42 spaces, 19 of them for electric cars with their corresponding recharging point.
In this area, a zone has been designed for public transport with space for two buses and four taxis. In addition, two quick stops will also be available to users next to the terminal door to drop off or pick up travelers.
