The Island Water Council of Lanzarote (CIAL) has formalized its adherence to the Lanzarote Tax Network, an organization dependent on the Cabildo, with the aim of optimizing the collection of the Discharge Fee to the Public Hydraulic Domain, as well as the management of sanctioning proceedings in water matters.
This agreement will strengthen "legal certainty and improve efficiency" in the administrative procedures related to the collection of fees and penalties linked to water management on the island. Through the Tax Network, the Island Water Council will have "a more agile, transparent and efficient system" to ensure compliance with tax obligations.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of this agreement "as a key step in the modernization of the island administration." "This agreement reflects our commitment to improving public management and optimizing available resources. With the adherence of the Island Water Council to the Lanzarote Tax Network, we ensure a more efficient and transparent collection process, benefiting both the administration and the citizens," he asserted.
For her part, the Councilor for Finance and Contracting and president of the Lanzarote Tax Network, María Jesús Tovar, explained the need for this collaboration, underlining the lack of resources of the Island Water Council to assume these tasks autonomously. "Until now, the Council did not have the human and technical means necessary to adequately manage the collection of the Discharge Fee or the sanctioning proceedings. With this adherence, we are taking an important step to ensure more effective tax management, with full legal certainty and with more agile and accessible procedures for taxpayers," she pointed out.
"This agreement not only facilitates the collection of the Discharge Fee, but also improves the management of sanctions and other administrative procedures related to water. Collaboration between administrations is essential to continue advancing in the provision of quality public services, ensuring that resources are managed efficiently," said the vice president of the Island Water Council, Domingo Cejas.
