From the early hours of Friday afternoon, the General Directorate of Transport of the Government of
Canary Islands has been in contact with Civil Aviation and Aena to monitor the
impact of the cessation of Spanair's activity.
Eleven flights of the company were scheduled for this Saturday, one of which was to depart
from Tenerife South, three from Tenerife North, two from Lanzarote and five from Gran
Canaria, one of which is a charter, which was to depart for Norway.
Apart from the refund claims for tickets that those affected may make to Spanair
agreements with other airlines will allow them to fly with Air Europa, Vueling
and Iberia at a price of 45 euros. In addition, Aena Canarias has activated a device in
all airports with Spanair's ground staff to assist passengers and
relocate them.
The Government of the Canary Islands remains in contact with both Aena
Canarias, as well as Civil Aviation, to permanently monitor the impact
of this cessation of Spanair's activity at Canary airports.
According to the company itself, passengers who paid for their tickets with a credit
credit card can inquire at their financial institution about the possibilities of reimbursement,
those who have taken out cancellation insurance have the possibility of contacting
directly to the insurance company and, in the case of having made the purchase through
of a travel agency, they can contact it for advice.
On the other hand, it is possible that tickets have been purchased on Spanair for
flights operated by other companies, which do not have to be affected by the cessation
of operations. In this case, the recommendation is to contact the airline that
operates the flight, to check if the flight will take place normally.
