The deadline to submit candidacies for the elections to the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote has concluded this Monday, with the same number of candidates as positions to be filled. Thus, it will not be necessary to carry out the votes, as confirmed by the chamber entity.
In total, the Plenary is composed of 24 members, of which 16 are elected by suffrage, but there are exactly 16 candidacies that have been presented. Regarding the other eight, 4 are designated by the most representative intersectoral and territorial business organizations of the demarcation and another 4 represent the companies with the largest voluntary contribution, and their names have also been provided.
However, the Chamber of Commerce has not yet wanted to make public who the chosen ones are, since the Electoral Board must still approve the candidates and verify that the process is correct. Thus, it will be in the next few days when this procedure is completed and the list is made public.
In theory, the elections should have been held on June 1, together with those of the Chambers of the rest of the Canary Islands. However, finally in Lanzarote it will not be necessary to proceed with that vote, since the list would have been previously agreed upon, which coincides exactly with the number of positions to be filled.
