The Chamber of Commerce and the Lanzarote Business Confederation have launched an awareness campaign urging the advancement of Christmas shopping so that retail businesses can close at six in the afternoon on December 24 and 31. The message of awareness is clear: "Two hours less to get home on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve."
For the second consecutive year, this message is launched to raise consumer awareness and promote work-life balance on two very special days. "The proposal is especially important this year given the capacity restrictions imposed to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, so reducing public service hours by two and a half hours can be of great help to many families," both entities point out.
On the other hand, the message to commercial establishments is a proposal that they can voluntarily adhere to as an action of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Establishments that wish to do so can download the poster to place it in their shop windows.
The initiative was born from the Island Commerce Commission, which includes the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Confederation. In addition, the Chamber has also appealed to the responsibility of each one to encourage responsible local consumption, that is, "to consume in local establishments, which are the ones that generate employment and local economy", and "to feed the logical economic cycle that ensures the stability of the inhabitants of Lanzarote".
"With support for local commerce, we all win" is the slogan of the Consume in Lanzarote campaign that was launched for the first time in 2013 and that they are remembering again this year "to move consciences and guarantee the employment and reinvestment that occurs when you consume responsibly in your area of influence".
