The Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce has denounced this Thursday that the expansion works of the Los Mármoles dock in Arrecife are suffering a new delay. This, it points out, is apparently caused by the company Acciona, which should have had the machine that manufactures the caissons on the island since last April. However, "the caisson machine does not seem to arrive in Lanzarote, at least, until June", they lament. The Chamber has addressed the Port Authority to "warn of this breach" and ask it to "take measures".
The Chamber adds that the delay could cause an "alteration of the work plan", which established the arrival of the machine for April 30. "The reality is that it is not expected to be able to do so until the first half of June, so we would be talking about a delay of a month and a half that would affect the entire execution plan," he says.
"As an example, the construction of the first caisson, scheduled for June 8, would be delayed until mid-August. This shift of dates in the calendar could hinder the start of the cruise season, in September, when the work would not have been completed," the Chamber points out.
Faced with this situation, the Chamber of Commerce, which is "closely following the fulfillment of the deadlines of this important work", has reported that it has sent a letter to the Port Authority of Las Palmas to "warn of this breach and request information in this regard". The letter includes the "concern that the work is carried out within the time window set in the specifications, in order not to hinder the cruise activity" and asks the Port Authority to "take appropriate measures against the awarding company".
