The Business Confederation of Lanzarote (CEL) has expressed its concern over the situation generated by the strike of the handling service staff of the Groundforce company, which is affecting airport operations during one of the periods of greatest activity of the year for the island, such as Easter.
In this regard, the business organization underlines the strategic importance of Lanzarote airport as the main gateway for tourists and as a key infrastructure for island connectivity and economic development.
Therefore, it warns that any alteration in its operation has a direct impact on the entire business fabric, especially in sectors such as tourism, transport, and services.
The president of the CEL, Beatriz Salazar, recalls that “we are at a particularly sensitive moment for Lanzarote's economy, in which stability in airport operations is fundamental to guarantee the normal development of tourist and business activity.” Therefore, she appeals to the responsibility of all parties involved to prevent this conflict from having greater consequences.
“From the CEL we defend dialogue as a fundamental tool for the resolution of labor conflicts,” he highlights. “It is necessary for the company and staff to bring positions closer and work on solutions that allow reconciling labor rights with the guarantee of an essential service for the island,” he insists.
Likewise, Salazar recalls that the quality of the tourist destination begins from the arrival of the visitor, which is why these incidents at the airport can affect the global perception of Lanzarote.
In this context, the CEL highlights the need to strengthen collaboration between companies, professionals, and public institutions, with the aim of ensuring a stable environment that favors economic activity and job creation on the island. “We trust that, from understanding and responsibility, a solution that benefits society as a whole can be reached very soon,” it concludes.
