The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, has opened the call for direct grant subsidies for the island's wine sector.
The Councilor for the Primary Sector of the Island Council, Andrés Stinga, announces that the deadline to apply for the aid will be until June 21 and stresses the importance of these aids "to promote grape production and to compensate for the scarce harvest of the year 2020 motivated, mainly, by the scarce rainfall."
From the Cabildo they point out that these subsidies are aimed at "winegrowers, physical or legal, who are registered in the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote at the time of submitting the application for aid and have made the harvest declaration in 2020 or, failing that, list of grape sales operations to wineries belonging to the D.O. 'Wines of Lanzarote' (Annex III)".
The Corporation also explains that those interested in processing the subsidy must provide the applicant's electronic ID and proof of having completed the registration with third parties in the Cabildo of Lanzarote. Likewise, legal entities must submit their application compulsorily through the electronic headquarters in the procedure enabled for this purpose.
Applications can be made at the Experimental Agricultural Farm or at the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. The Experimental Agricultural Farm will also send SMS to all winegrowers who meet the requirements to qualify for the subsidy, according to the data provided by the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote, assigning them a day to go to apply for the aid in person from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
