The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Mobility of the Canary Islands, has received 2,471,250 euros to finance regular public road passenger transport on the island for 2023.
The funds are intended to promote road transport mobility. The island councils hold the powers of programming, planning and island coordination of road transport and, in addition, are responsible for transferring these funds to regular land passenger transport operators, in order to be able to meet personnel and deficit financing costs.
The total allocation for the Canary Islands is 47.5 million. In the rest of the islands, the distribution has been as follows: 1,011,500 euros for the Cabildo of El Hierro; 2,490,500 euros for the Cabildo of Fuerteventura; 19,473,000 euros for the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; 1,204,000 euros for the Cabildo of La Gomera; and 2,421,750 euros for the Cabildo of La Palma.
In the case of the island of Tenerife, the powers are divided between the Cabildo and the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with an amount of 16,090,500 euros and 2,337,500 euros, respectively.
This allocation is compatible with the additional contribution of 10,720,000 euros intended to subsidize the 'Canarian Resident Bonus', which is assigned according to the agreements reached with the councils based on the number of inhabitants of each island and the users.
