The councilors of Industry, Commerce and Consumption and Territorial Policy and Environment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Lourdes Bernal and Carlos Espino, respectively, invite the technicians of these areas of the island's town halls, the island's business community, alternative energy installers, members of the Biosphere Reserve Council and, in general, citizens interested in the production of photovoltaic energy and its economic profitability, to take part in the working day that will be held from 10:00 a.m. on January 20, in the CICCA room of Arrecife, under the heading "Economic and strategic opportunity of photovoltaic energy installations and other renewables in Lanzarote".

Technicians from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Ministry of Industry through the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDEA), the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands, Inalsa, UNELCO-Endesa and different town halls of the Island, have confirmed their attendance to this work session in which the opportunities offered by photovoltaic energy as a means for the production of alternative energies and, in addition, its economic profitability will be analyzed with special attention.

Guide for future actions

During the day, different documents will be provided that can serve as a guide for future actions on the Island, such as the installation of photovoltaic modules in the San Bartolomé Library, in the Offices of the Timanfaya National Park, in Tinajo and in the Tahiche school, in addition to the use of thermal solar panels incorporated in newly built homes.

In this regard, it should be noted that the Councilor for Industry, Commerce and Consumption of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Lourdes Bernal, traveled last week to the island of Tenerife to attend the Islasolar conference, an initiative presented by the Councilor for Industry, Commerce and New Technologies of the Government of the Canary Islands, Marisa Tejedor, and which was attended by the first deputy mayor of Bonn, Peter Finger, who explained the Solarlokal project that is being implemented in said German city and which aims to use photovoltaic energy in municipal infrastructures.
