Sales of used cars and vans rose by 10.2% in July in the Canary Islands

The growth in sales of this type of vehicle in Spain as a whole amounted to 17.7% that month.

The sale of second-hand cars and vans rose by 10.2% in the Canary Islands in July, with 10,303 vehicles sold, according to data from the National Association of Vehicle Dealers (Ancove).

According to these data, of the total number of these vehicles sold in the islands, 8,140 were passenger cars, which grew by 8.2% year-on-year, and 2,163 were light commercial vehicles, with an increase of 18.4%.

The second-hand vehicle market (passenger cars plus vans) has grown by an average of 17.7% in Spain, passenger cars by 18% and light commercial vehicles by 16.2%.

So far this year, 6.7% more used vehicles have been transferred in the region than a year ago, with a total of 69,673, of which 55,063 were passenger cars, up 5.5%, and 14,610 vans, up 11.1%.

In the national average, 9.2% more used vehicles (passenger cars + vans) have been sold than in the same period of 2023.

In July, 207,252 second-hand vehicles were sold in Spain between passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, which implies an increase of 17.7% compared to the same month last year. 

It adds that after the fall in 2024, electric vehicles are gaining strength in the used market and in July they achieved a share of 1% and in the accumulated, 0.9% although they are still a minority segment, although it is growing strongly, as are plug-in hybrids, also electrified.
