The economic recovery of Lanzarote after the pandemic can also be seen in the number of registrations on the island during 2022. There were a total of 6,228, 37% more than those carried out the previous year, according to data published by the Lanzarote Data Center based on data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) and the General Directorate of Traffic.
In 2022 there were again two months with high levels of registrations, which had not occurred during the pandemic and which gave the key to the tourist recovery. Registrations doubled compared to 2021 in both February and June, moments of renewal of the fleets of tourist rental vehicles both for Easter and for the summer season.
However, last year's registrations were less than those that occurred in 2019, and many less than those in 2018, when 6,911 and 8,819 vehicles were registered in Lanzarote, respectively.
