Five hundred applications in the first four days. This is the balance recorded from July 13th, the day the application period opened for grants aimed at SMEs and self-employed individuals from the Cabildo of Lanzarote, until Friday, July 16th.

Exactly 133 small businesses and 357 self-employed individuals have already submitted the documentation and processed this aid through electronic means, according to the Chamber of Commerce. In figures, it is estimated that 905,000 euros out of the six million initially allocated for this item have been requested.

In this first week, the Chamber of Commerce states that more than 600 phone calls have been received and face-to-face assistance has been offered to 55 people.

Team processing the Cabildo's aid applications

By municipalities, Tías stands out, with 92 applications submitted. From Arrecife, which is the municipality with the most business activity, accounting for 60% of the activity, 151 applications have been submitted, from Teguise 79, from San Bartolomé 75, from Yaiza 59, from Haría 20, and from Tinajo 14.

Regarding profiles, individual self-employed individuals and self-employed individuals with up to three employees, who are entitled to 1,500 euros of aid, top the list of the fastest applicants. On the other hand, companies with more employees, whose subsidy range is from 2,000 to 6,000 euros, have barely processed the aid yet.

Key aspects of the aid

The aid from the Cabildo of Lanzarote is intended to alleviate the health crisis of Covid-19 for companies with fiscal domicile in Lanzarote or La Graciosa. It is aimed at all economic sectors that were active before March 14, 2020, and are still active.

To apply, it is necessary to have had a decrease in turnover equal to or greater than 30 percent. The amount to be granted depends on the number of employees and ranges from 1,500 euros to 6,000 euros. The aid is compatible with other subsidies granted for the same reason.

The submission deadline is August 12th and is done electronically. For its processing, there is a team that offers telephone advice and face-to-face assistance. The contact telephone number is 828 181 599, and all the information is published on the Chamber of Commerce website.
