The Islote de Fermina hosted this morning the 'Business Breakfast: 300 years of Economic Cooperation between Lanzarote and San Antonio', a forum for exchange and dialogue on commercial opportunities between both territories.

The meeting was attended by José Valle, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Héctor Fernández, CEO of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL), Steve Chiscano, Honorary Consul of Spain in San Antonio, and Ron Nirenberg, mayor of San Antonio, Texas.

The event, organized by the Chamber, brought together a large group of entrepreneurs from Lanzarote, especially from the agri-food and wine sector, who showed a notable interest in accessing the US market.

During his speech, José Valle highlighted the firm commitment of the Chamber of Commerce to opening new markets for companies in Lanzarote, focusing on the United States, and in particular on Texas.

"Today, we have the opportunity to continue strengthening ties between our communities, exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the economic, tourism and commercial fields. This is nothing more than the result of the governance model based on public-private collaboration between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Chamber of Commerce, which allows strategic projects to be promoted for economic development."

For his part, Héctor Fernández stated: "The tourism strategy that Lanzarote will deploy in the US market can act as support for the entry of products from the island into this market, in addition to helping to better position the destination brand, through the quality of these products."

"This strategy will focus on certain cities in this country, -he continued-, where there are air connections to the main hubs in Europe, mainly on the east coast, and San Antonio is one of them, which has very favorable economic conditions, in addition to the deep historical ties that exist."

The meeting also served to analyze the current economic panorama of Lanzarote and the opportunities offered by Texas as an export destination, a topic addressed by José Valle and Steve Chiscano.

Finally, the mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg, made a review of the economy of the state of Texas and reaffirmed his interest in strengthening the historical and economic ties between both territories.

Both the Chamber of Commerce and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with Proexca, continue to work on initiatives to train and support the island's companies in their internationalization process.
