50% of Lanzarote residents believe that the quality of life in Lanzarote has worsened in the last year and only 12% think the opposite has happened.
This is reflected in the results of the latest Island Issues survey, prepared by the Lanzarote Data Center between October 14 and November 8.
The survey, conducted through 700 telephone interviews with adults residing in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, also shows that 36% of the population believes that the quality of life has not changed compared to a year ago.
The average assessment of the island's quality of life (3.1) has fallen by more than one point since 2020, when it scored 4.2 points.

In its analysis, the survey attributes this perception to multiple factors, including difficulties in accessing housing, water management, the quality of health services and inflation.
Access to housing, however, is by far the biggest concern of Lanzarote residents. 57% consider it to be the biggest problem on the island, far above all other issues.
In particular, the increasing cost of rentals, which almost seven out of ten Lanzarote residents point out as excessive.
The second most highlighted problem, the inefficient management of water, was chosen by 24% of those surveyed.
