EasyJet has announced a new route from Lanzarote to Basel, Switzerland, which has already gone on sale. The connection will be inaugurated on November 12 and will have two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
According to the company, passengers will be able to fly from 27.99 euros per trip, including taxes. This airline already has two routes from Guacimeta airport to Great Britain, specifically to Liverpool and London.
Easyjet has also announced two other connections from the Canary Islands, also on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One of them will operate from Fuerteventura to Hamburg, in Germany, and the other from Tenerife to Rome, in Italy. Tickets for the latter will go on sale from the 21st.
The company expects that these three new routes from the Canary Islands will add around 14,000 passengers during their first months until the end of the year. This would mean a total of more than 850,000 EasyJet passengers transported to the Canary Islands during this year 2014.
Greater connectivity for Canarian entrepreneurs
"EasyJet continues to grow in Spain and these new routes are a significant part of this sustained growth of the airline, once again betting on the airports of the Canary Islands. We are sure that these three new connections will be very well received by both business and vacation passengers who will find an interesting cultural offer in these cities," said Javier Gángara, general director of Easyjet in Spain.
In this sense, he assured that Basel, Hamburg and Rome are "three important European business centers, so these routes will allow greater connectivity for Canarian businessmen".
From the airline they have insisted that the Canary Islands are "an important market" for EasyJet. "Proof of this is that throughout this year the airline expects to transport more than 850,000 passengers, which means an increase of 29 percent compared to 2013, and with expectations of approximately one million passengers for 2015. Without a doubt, an important figure for EasyJet", highlighted the general director of the company in the country.
