The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands will include in a document, which is already being prepared, the measures and action protocols that must be implemented in the shops of the islands, once they are progressively reopened, in accordance with the de-escalation process approved by the Government of Spain and whose decision could be known this Tuesday, April 28.

The Ministry met this Monday, April 27, with different agents of the business sector of the Canary Islands to learn in detail all their proposals, in order to complete the text, and guarantee the correct development of commercial activity, in safe conditions.

The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, highlights the importance of having the assessment and support of the sector, with the aim of "achieving a consensus document and a solid proposal that allows us to be prepared for when the competent authorities decree the reopening of commerce in the islands".

According to the Director General of Commerce and Consumption, David Mille, the document will take into account the health safety protocols for both workers and the general public and will focus especially on the retail trade of the islands. The plan is expected to be submitted by the Government of the Canary Islands to the State, after review and approval, before its final approval. 

The meeting with the sector was attended by representatives of the provincial business associations, CEOE-Tenerife and CCE, as well as other sectoral business associations such as the Federation of Entrepreneurs of La Palma (Fedepalma), the Federation of Food and Consumer Goods Companies of the Canary Islands (Facca), the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca), the Canary Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (Cecapyme), the Provincial Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Metal and New Technologies (Femepa) and commercial representatives from the Triana area were also present at the meeting.

The Chambers of Commerce of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were also represented, as well as the delegations of the Chamber of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, as well as representatives of the Canary Association of Medium and Large Distribution Companies (Asodican) and the Association of Supermarkets of the Canary Islands (Asuican) and the trade unions Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and Unión General de Trabajadores de España (UGT)
