Cicar, best car rental company, according to an OCU survey

The Lanzarote company obtained first place among 12 different options by the 7,000 users interviewed

The car rental company CICAR is the one that generates the greatest satisfaction in its sector, according to almost 7,000 people surveyed from four European countries, carried out by the Organization of Consumers and Users of Spain (OCU).

The results of the survey have been published in the OCU magazine corresponding to this month of May in a report entitled "There are trips and trips", which collects the results on the services used when searching for and contracting trips.

CICAR "seems to find no rival in the sector when it comes to satisfying users", concludes the OCU, "after asking European travelers to assess various tourist services: their answers help us identify the good services and those that are not so good".

CICAR achieves an overall satisfaction of 83 points out of 100 and leads the three categories that have been evaluated: amenities such as mileage or refueling (81 points), cost of additional coverage (78 points) and value for money (82 points).

The ranking includes twelve companies in the sector, all well-known multinationals with the sole exception of CICAR, a Canarian family business belonging to the Lanzarote business group Cabrera Medina and which only operates in the Canary Islands.

CICAR repeats the leadership it already obtained in 2018, the year in which the OCU conducted a similar survey. In second place was Thrifty, followed by Centauro, Budget, Europcar, Ok Mobility, Hertz, Sixt, Alamo and Firefly. The last places were for Firefly and Goldcar. 

"When we go on vacation we want to have a good time without scares or setbacks. However, this does not always happen, as we know from the claims in our advisory service. And as important as choosing well with whom to contract tourist services to avoid problems is choosing the companies that offer the best value for money," the report notes.

The OCU is a non-profit, totally independent organization, created in 1975 with the aim of defending the rights of consumers.
