The Ministry of Industry, in collaboration with the industrial employers' association Asinca, has launched a digital training program for managers in the industrial sector, which aims to enhance the competitiveness of Canary Island companies, from their own management departments, through digital transformation.

Yaiza Castilla, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, stressed at the opening ceremony of the training that "a panorama is now opening up in which we will be able to access more support than ever to achieve that goal of digital transformation and high competitiveness of the Canary Islands industry", thanks to aid valued at almost 13 million euros for 2022.

In addition, she explained that they are working on a financing line with funds raised from the European Feder 2021-2027 program, to digitize the entire value chain of the industrial company, with an allocation for its use in the current year of 5 million euros, an amount that is expected to be replicated in successive years until 2027. This line is in addition to the call for the modernization and diversification of the industrial sector, which will include subsidies focused on the circular economy and eco-innovation applied to production processes, among other actions to which 7.8 million euros are allocated this year.

For his part, Virgilio Correa, president of Asinca, pointed out that "it is essential to carry out actions such as this program, aimed at raising awareness and disseminating this reality in the management field of the industrial sector, so that it is the management departments that lead this change in companies," he adds. "This initiative will allow industries to remain competitive, sustainable, efficient and productive and achieve the shared goal of growing and diversifying our sector, which is a strategic sector for the Canary Islands."

Specifically, the program will train 44 industrial managers and support staff to the management of Canary Island companies in the sector through a planning of 52 hours of lessons, which will be taught in person on the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria until June, although there is also the possibility of attending via streaming.

The training will be given by MBA Business School, with professionals with recognized experience in national and international companies. Specifically, the objective is to develop the digital culture and specific skills for digital transformation at management levels and close to the management of industrial companies.

Therefore, the contents will focus on knowing the new business models of Industry 4.0 and 5.0, evaluating the degree of digitization of industries, knowing the most adapted technological tools for the sector or learning the mechanisms to develop a digitization plan, among others.

This program is subsidized by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the project 'Promotion Campaign of Industry 4.0 in the Industrial Sector'.
