Proexca, a member of Canary Islands Film, in collaboration with GEMA Colombia - Grupo Empresas de Animación-, has organized a direct mission to Colombia to meet in a personalized way with 16 companies in the sector in Bogotá and tell them about the advantages of developing in the Canary Islands.

The technician from the Invest in the Canary Islands area, Javier Hidalgo, has traveled to Bogotá to lead this business meeting in which he has shown how a complete solid ecosystem is being developed in the Islands thanks to the close collaboration between the public and private sectors of this industry.

In addition, he has taken the opportunity to show them the products that are currently being developed in the Canary Islands by the major animation studios worldwide, has spoken about the talent and quality of life, as well as the advantages that the islands present due to their own idiosyncrasy, being a tricontinental bridge for both the European and African markets.

The Colombian studios have had the opportunity to talk directly about numbers, resolve their doubts about the incentives that the Canary Islands present to be more competitive by settling there or developing certain projects from the islands, being aware of the great opportunities for co-production.

This business meeting has also served as a prelude to a reverse mission of Colombian studios that will soon visit the Canary Islands to participate in the upcoming Quirino Awards, the international Ibero-American animation awards that take place in the islands.

For its part, the animation industry in Colombia has experienced significant growth in recent years, with more than 40 companies throughout the country and generating projects nominated in various festivals, which highlight the promising future of this sector as well as the potential for collaboration between both markets.
