The Arrecife Local Police has investigated a 38-year-old driver after catching him driving with a suspended driving license. The officers attribute to him the commission of an alleged crime against road safety.

He had the driving permit suspended until 2028

The events occurred on March 15, around 17:55 hours, when agents providing traffic surveillance service detected a vehicle that lacked mandatory insurance and a valid vehicle technical inspection (ITV).

After stopping the car, the driver was identified and they verified that a temporary suspension of his driving license was in effect for him until January 14, 2028.

According to information from the Arrecife City Council in a statement, this type of crime is processed through fast trials, which "in a high percentage of cases conclude with convicting sentences and new penalties of deprivation of the right to drive, in addition to other possible criminal liabilities".

During this term the Arrecife Local Police Force has debuted new technological equipment and vehicles. With the incorporated technological systems, agents can perform real-time tracking of a vehicle's situation through license plate reading.

From the Local Police of Arrecife, it is reminded that this type of non-compliance ends up being detected "sooner or later", thanks to the controls and the verification work carried out by the agents during patrolling. The consultations in the official databases allow locating anomalies and infractions related to vehicles and drivers.
