The Industrial Price Index fell by 8.3% in January compared to the same month of 2025 in Canarias, the area where it fell the most in the entire country, practically tripling the average decrease recorded in Spain, which was 2.9%, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Said index registered negative annual variations in all communities in January, when the lowest rates were recorded, behind Canarias, Baleares and Principado de Asturias, with a fall of 7.6% in both cases.

While the smallest decreases were registered in Castilla y León (-0.8%), Comunidad Valenciana (-1.2%) and Extremadura (-1.3%), details the latest statistics from the Industrial Price Index prepared by the INE.

That reveals that, in the case of Canarias, the reduction of that index was caused by a 14% decrease in energy tariffs, the only of its sections that noted a decrease.

While, on the contrary, it experienced increases in the remaining ones: of 8.1% in capital goods, of 3.6% in consumer goods and of 0.1% in intermediate goods, specifies the INE.
