The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced open aid aimed at the energy rehabilitation of existing buildings. This line of financing, related to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, is endowed with 884,470 euros, an amount that could be increased if the amount of applications received exceeds the initial budget.
The deadline for submitting applications to this call will be open until December 31, 2023 and the eligible actions must focus on properties located in municipalities with demographic challenges, that is, up to 5,000 inhabitants or in non-urban municipalities of up to 20,000 inhabitants in which all their singular population entities are up to 5,000 inhabitants. The submission of applications, in the case of legal entities, must be done through the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Canary Islands.
The regional councilor responsible for the Area, José Antonio Valbuena, explained that these aids are aimed at natural or legal persons who own existing buildings, communities of owners or groups of owners of residential buildings for housing use, owners who collectively own buildings; operating, tenant or concessionaire companies of buildings; energy service companies (ESEs) or energy service providers; local entities and renewable energy communities or citizen energy communities."
From the Ministry they point out that the eligible works can be carried out in the building as a whole or in one or several homes or premises. These actions must fall within improvements for the energy efficiency of the thermal envelope, improvements in energy efficiency and use of renewable energies in thermal installations for heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and domestic hot water or improvement of the energy efficiency of lighting installations.
In the case of natural persons, unless they are obliged to interact through electronic means with the Public Administrations, they have the option of submitting their application by completing the standardized model in the same link, and submitting the required documentation at a registry office of the Autonomous Community.
