The Municipal Archive of Arrecife hosted this Friday a new edition of the Southern Global Forum, this time dedicated to 21st Century Tourism and the opportunities offered by new technologies. Among the speakers was the president of AC Hotels by Marriot, Antonio Catalán, who said he was not willing "to earn more money at the expense of staff sacrifice", referring to groups such as Las Kellys.
The former Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, who is also a doctor in Economics, also attended the forum and gave a presentation on "The three 'D's' of the tourist destination", as well as Juan Rodríguez Jurado, from the Spanish company Carto, with his presentation on "Tourists through geospatial data".
The event, which was attended by more than a hundred people, was attended by, among others, the mayoress of Arrecife Eva de Anta, the councillor for Tourism Rafael Juan González and the councillors for Mobility and Cleaning Inodelvia Torres and Tomás Fajardo. After the debate, Eva de Anta recognised the importance of this type of forum "with interesting and motivating interventions by the speakers, where everyone agrees on the need to achieve quality tourism that results in the improvement and dignification of the sector at all levels".
For his part, the Councillor for Tourism, Rafael Juan González, spoke at the forum, thanking "private initiatives that allow us to listen to proposals from tourism experts such as those we have the pleasure of listening to in this forum, this makes the development of the city model a shared work and makes us know that Arrecife's tourism worries and is part of both the public and private sectors". "It is a pride and an opportunity for Arrecife that the main players come to talk about tourism", added the councillor.
The Forum, whose presentations were moderated by the economist José Carlos Díez, maintained a strong pedagogical and informative content, aimed at an audience interested in the subject, but without the need for prior specialisation.
