The Air Traffic Controllers' Union (USCA) has not clarified in the informative appearance this Wednesday in Madrid the exact date on which they will go on strike agreed yesterday by the assembly of the group.

The spokespersons for the controllers have explained that at the moment there is neither a date nor days of duration although they have confirmed that it will never be before next Monday, July 16, because they must communicate it to the Ministry of Development and to Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena) with ten days in advance so that minimum services are set.

Despite the "differentiated treatment" in the minimum service decree that the Government of the Canary Islands has requested for the Islands, the Constitutional Court already contemplated in a ruling percentages higher than those of the rest of Spain, precisely because of its insularity and distance from the peninsular territory, so "the effect of the strike will be lower in the Canary Islands", explained this Wednesday the mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Jerónimo Saavedra.

The spokesman for USCA, Daniel Zamit, stressed that the union will call the strike when it deems it "necessary and opportune" because it prefers to exhaust all options before making a decision "unpopular and risky" and that now they expect 'a gesture' from the Minister of Development, José Blanco.
