Currently, there are 4,936 companies in Lanzarote, 7% more than in the same period last year. Although 24 have been lost compared to last month, in the overall calculation for the year, 96 new companies have been created in all sectors.
The services sector, with 4,233 businesses, accounts for more than 85% of all companies on the island, and also takes the bulk of those created this year with 70 new ones, the majority (84%) from the tourism sector.
In agriculture, with a total of 105 companies registered on the island, there are five more than in January, while Lanzarote's industry, with a total of 167 companies, currently has six more companies than it had at the beginning of the year.
For its part, construction, to which 431 companies are dedicated in Lanzarote, has 15 more companies than in January.
More dynamism in the tourism sector: transportation, restaurants and cultural services
This dynamism of tourism entrepreneurs in Lanzarote has been especially noticeable in the area of passenger road transport services, where there are now 29 more companies than in January. Secondly, the hotel industry, with 18 new restaurants.
The cultural services sector has also grown, where there are four more companies. The sector of rental of passenger transport equipment, for its part, has three more businesses. There are also two more travel agencies currently than at the beginning of the year. Completing the list of new companies in the tourism sector are two hotels and a sports services company.
